Leah is known by many as kind, outgoing, compassionate, and even the “fun” therapist who has a unique ability to make anyone around her feel immediately at ease. She provides information in a straightforward yet compassionate manner and strives to create a warm therapeutic partnership between therapist and client.
Leah Klein, LCSW, is joining our team as our first ever psychotherapist. She will be providing virtual individual psychotherapeutic services to clients as a complement to our nutritional counseling services to assist our clients in managing emotional issues that go hand in hand with NY Nutrition Group treatment . Leah has 20 years of experience in the field of clinical social work and has worked in inpatient and outpatient medical settings, residential school settings and community mental health clinics. Leah earned her B.A. in sociology/psychology from Hofstra University and her Masters in Social Work( MSW) from the Fordham University Graduate school of Social Service.
Leah approaches psychotherapy from a non judgmental point of view and a perspective of meeting clients where they are. Her treatment philosophy is that therapy does not have to be all “gloom and doom” and infuses humor into the treatment where appropriate.
Anxiety, Depression, Mood Dysregulation, Body Image Issues/Dysmorphia, Disordered Eating, Peripartum and Postpartum Depression, Life Transitions, (ie marriage, divorce, moving, job change starting/graduating from college etc)
When not “in session”, Leah enjoys family time with her husband, daughter and mom , spending time with friends and walking outside. She is very excited for the weather to warm up so that she can do all of these things outside.
